I am Alison Hyde, lifetime volunteer and retired educator. I have taught kindergarten in USA, and Art, English (ESL) and Phys. Ed at Malcolm Moffat Teachers College in Zambia. My husband proposed saying, “Marry me, we’ll go dig ditches in Kenya!” Yes! A work camp summer in Hamisi led to seven years living and working in Africa. I served on the Crossroads Springs board 2004-2010 and Crossroads Springs Africa board since 2010 incorporation as President, Executive Committee member, and ex officio on all committees. Introduced to Sukie by a mutual friend, we shared by e-mail our experiences of our similar work in Western Kenya, not meeting in person until after she paved the way for us to join forces with FoK and KOCC in 2015. Sukie’s friendship and inspiration will always be with me.
