Assisting Students and Families to Rise out of Poverty

THE FAMILY CARE MODEL

BASE LEVEL SUPPORT OF THE FAMILY

We would provide social worker support. Each family would receive an average of $30/month, solar lights and clean stoves. We would make sure that latrines are in good condition.

EDUCATION OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

The support dollar amount is the same for day scholars and boarding school students:  If the sponsor who provided the funding at the base level can not afford this level also, an independent sponsor could sponsor the student.

SEEDS FERTILIZER AND FRUIT TREES

This helps the family’s progress become sustainable. It prepares them for when we are not there. $150 per year supports families in growing more and healthier food, to sell more crops, to care for soil better, and to build wealth in wood and fruit trees which can bring income for years.

FARM AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Teaching farming as a business. This is “Strong Young People” or “Strong Young Women”. If we could expand this to (some) of the guardians and/or to grads, it will be good.

Co-finance vocational scholarship at affordable, local Technical and Vocational Educational Training (TVET) institutions
